As the producer of the upcoming educational documentary "Rebirth of a City: The Story of the Honorable Nathaniel Bates, I am thrilled to be working again with Director Steven Bernier of Street Dreams Productions. This inspiring film will explore the life and legacy of Nathaniel Bates, a dedicated leader and pivotal figure in the revitalization of Richmond, California. We began the project in December 2024, and filming is complete. We are now in post-production, with an anticipated screening scheduled for early February.

His prolific career spans roles as a probation officer, community advocate, and a dedicated city councilman and mayor for five decades, during which he worked tirelessly to foster community development, promote social justice, and empower youth. The film aims to honor 94-year-old Bates's extraordinary contributions and highlight Richmond’s enduring spirit of renewal. For baseball fans, Mr. Bates was recently inducted into the Indian Head Rockets baseball Hall of Fame in Saskatchewan, Canadian Providence.
